This Education Sunday, St. Paul had the immense privilege of welcoming many new families originally immigrating from the South Sudan into the St. Paul family. This culminates a relationship that began last December when the Ottawa Nuer community first approached Pastor Goetzinger about hosting a Christmas service in the Nuer language. You can read more about that spectacular Christmas event at the WELS home missions blog:  https://wels.net/a-sudanese-christmas-in-ottawa/

Since Christmas, St. Paul has had the opportunity to teach a Bible information class to many new families, share in worship, and host additional Nuer community events. Education Sunday was celebrated with prayers of thanksgiving and a Sudanese feast prepared by many of the new families. The food was fantastic, as was the fellowship. It was a day to remember! We praise God that through his amazing grace we are a church of many cultures, but one family in Christ.
